Hemp is quickly become a go-to material in the design world, used lately for everything from bridges to homes made from “hempcrete.” The cannabis plant offers a versatile and eco-friendly material thanks to its natural durability and ease of growth.

West Elm is now joining the ranks of hemp converts with a new line of bedding made from hemp fiber. The collection includes sheets, duvets, pillow cases, and a coverlet made from a mix of hemp fiber and cotton, the latter of which gives the notoriously rough fiber a softer feel.

The bedding comes in a variety of neutral colors thanks to the natural dye process that includes using Radix isatidis leaf to make a light “Hazy Blue”, myrobalan to create a “Misty Grey”, and eucalyptus leaf for the line’s “Desert Flax” hue. These simple colors are mixed and matched in patterns and solids.

West Elm’s hemp sheets start at $229. The duvets range from $229 to $279, and the coverlet ranges from $249 to $299.
